India on Monday qualified for Super Fours stage after beating Nepal by 10 wickets under the DLS method in fifth game of the Asia Cup 2023 in Pallekele.
After rain delayed India’s innings, the 231-run target set by Nepal was revised down to 145. Team Blue surpassed the target in 20.1 over with first wicket partnership between Rohit Sharma (74) and Shubman Gill (67).
Earlier, Nepal set a target of 231 runs for India. Kushal Bhurtel (38) and Mohammad Asif Sheikh (58) built a strong opening stand as the favorite India struggled to serve early blows to the rival team.
After their removal, Nepal last quick three more wickets, putting burden on the middle and tail orders. Gulshan Kumar Jha made 28 runs while Sompal Kami smashed 48 to give a final push to the total. India restricted Nepal to 230 in 48.2 overs.
Rain has delayed the resumption of game as India stood at 17-0 in 2.1 overs.
