Aston Villa delivered a resounding 6-1 victory against Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday, thanks to Ollie Watkins’s impressive hat-trick, making a strong case for an England call-up.
Watkins showcased his talent by netting two goals in the first half, while an own goal by Pervis Estupinan further extended Villa’s lead at Villa Park.
Brighton managed to pull one back in the second half through Ansu Fati, but Watkins completed his hat-trick, reaffirming his international potential.
Despite already having seven England caps to his name, Watkins was excluded from the squad in September. With England manager Gareth Southgate in attendance, Watkins has certainly put himself in contention for a spot in the squad for the upcoming October matches against Australia and Italy.
With a 10-game winning streak at home, Villa harbours genuine hopes of challenging for a top-four finish.
