In another blow to ousted prime minister Imran Khan, his close aide and former SAPM Usman Dar on Wednesday announced to quit Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and politics.
Usman Dar said, “Imran Khan presided over a meeting where the planning and implementation of the events of May 9 took place and accused Imran Khan of endorsing a narrative that is hostile to the state, and blames him directly for the PTI’s current situation.”
He said, “The purpose of May 9 events was to put pressure on the army chief to resign, adding that Imran Khan could be receiving instructions from someone inside the company.”
The former SAPM went on to say that the planning of targeting sensitive installations was done in the meeting chaired by Imran Khan, adding, “I now feel ‘unfit’ in PTI, so I announce my resignation from politics along with party. During the meeting, he said, instructions were passed on that sensitive installations would be attacked if the PTI chairman is arrested.
The PTI leader further revealed that party’s October 2022 long march was to stop the appointment of General Asim Munir as Army Chief. He said Murad Saeed, Hammad Azhar, Farrukh Habib and Azam Swati were from the anti-army group and wanted a clash.
