Bayern Munich has confirmed that midfielder Leon Goretzka will be sidelined for “the next few games” following a hand injury sustained during their 3-1 victory over Mainz on Saturday.
Goretzka, who contributed with a goal in the match, had to undergo surgery on Sunday morning. As a result of this injury, he will not be available for Bayern’s upcoming Champions League clash with Galatasaray and their home match against Darmstadt on Saturday.
This setback adds to Bayern’s injury concerns, including the long-term absence of captain Manuel Neuer, who is expected to return after 10 months on the sidelines.
injuries to other key players like Serge Gnabry, Noussair Mazraoui, Raphael Guerreiro, and Dayot Upamecano have also further strained Bayern’s squad this season.
Thomas Tuchel, Bayern’s manager, expressed his concern about the squad’s depth after the recent closure of the transfer window and the subsequent injuries to his key players.
